Autodesk Inventor Professional

Mechanical design software for ambitious ideas

What is Inventor Professional?

Inventor® 3D CAD software provides professional-grade mechanical design,

documentation, and product simulation tools.

  • Powerful blend of parametric, direct, freeform, and rules-based
    design capabilities.
  • Integrated tools for sheet metal, frame design, tube and pipe, cable
& harness, presentations, rendering, simulation, machine design, and more.
  • TrustedDWG® compatibility and powerful Model-Based Definition
capabilities for embedding manufacturing information directly in the 3D model.

Why choose Inventor?

Improve product performance

Use powerful 3D modeling and simulation capabilities to design and optimize performance.

Reduce repetitive tasks

Quickly create customizable configurations of your designs and automate common tasks.

Boost collaboration

Connect your designs with incoming customer data and share ideas in a secure cloud-based service.

Not only that, there are even more tools to advance your capabilities!

Create the best design possible.

Inventor includes topology optimization tools for the optimization and lightweighting of your design. Shape generator provides an intelligent strategy for coming up with the best design possible by removing unnecessary geometry from your model that doesn't contribute to the overall stiffness.

Improve design collaboration and communication

Inventor is tightly integrated with Autodesk Vault, enabling the efficent and secure exchange of design data and promoting early collaboration between design and manufacturing workgroups.

Integrated 2D and 3D design

Inventor helps you realize the benefits of 3D product development by providing an associative link to native DWG files that ensures accuracy in your design.

Tools for digital manufacturing

Inventor provides model-based definition for adding all necessary fabrication instruction information directly to the model. This eliminates the need for a traditional 2D drawing used by CNC programmers for tolerances and surface finish on the design.

What's new in Inventor 2024?

ASSEMBLIES

Component Patterning Enhancement

You can now select a revolved face, cylindrical or conical, to define the direction for a component pattern. It is not necessary to activate the selector when using an origin axis, clicking the flyout activates the selector and chooses the selected axis.

Assembly Section View Enhancement
Section view definition persists in the design view representation. With this release you can easily edit the section view definition or suppress the section view by right-clicking the view representation node and clicking Section View  Edit or Suppress.

Subtitute Enhancement
Whenever a part or assembly is created as a substitute, using derive or simplify, the resulting component is given the substitute status.

Thread Direction support in Content Center
With this release, it is now possible to map the thread direction (left or right) to the part template parameters.

Tube & Pipe Enhancement
In previous versions of Inventor, it was only possible to add a 45 or 90 degree elbow to a rigid pipe run. Starting from this release , it is now possible to apply custom angled elbows.

"J" to Directly Start Joints
The "J" key is now assigned as the shortcut key to start the Place Joint command in assemblies, weldments, and dynamic simulation.

3DA and Model Based Definition (MDB) Enhancement

• Annotation Folder
• 3DA Envelope Requirement Modifier
• 3DA Thread Notes
• 3D Weld Symbols
• All Over Modifier
• Flatness and Profile of a Surface
• Annotation
• Datum Target Browser Node

Section View Enhancement
With this release you can easily edit the section view definition or suppress the section view by right-clicking

Mark Enhancement
The Mark feature is improved to support the using non-coplanar sketches to define the mark sketch geometry and wrapping or projecting the sketch to a non-planar face.

Derive Enhancement
You can now cancel the preview of the oriented minimum bounding box when deriving a part, assembly, and when simplifying an assembly. Starting with release, you can now derive a solid body using oriented minimum bounding boxes. A new "Oriented minimum bounding box" option is added to the Options tab of the Derived Part, Derive Assembly and Make Part dialogs

Finish
The new Finish feature enables you to not only specify the appearance of your parts, components and assemblies, but also the manufacturing process such as material coating or surface finish.

Parameter Enhancement

Hardness: Hardness is a brand new unit type added for this Inventor release. This allows hardness to be specified in the Finish command, but can also be used on it's own.
Export Boolean Parameter to a Custom iProperty: It is now possible to export both text and Boolean (true/false) values from the Parameters dialog to custom iProperties. These can then be retrieved for example in the drawing environment or 3D annotations.

Sheet Metal
When specifying face in Sheet Metal, closed loop detection is now improved to make it easier to select geometry from a sketch, especially in situations where multiple profiles are overlapping.

DRAWING

Revision Clouds
Revision clouds are full-fledged Inventor objects and no longer in the SDK. Add them to drawing sheets or views, move them around, add or delete vertices, and like other annotation styles the formatting is managed using the Styles Editor.

Text Enhancement
Sheet Property : Sheet Name is added as a Sheet Property and can be used in text.

Edge Symbol
Starting from this release of Inventor, you can define an Edge Symbol based on ISO 13715:2019 standard. The new Edge Symbol command is added to the Symbols panel of the Annotate tab.

Parts List Filter Indicator
It is now easier to recognize if a filter is applied to the parts list. An icon in the browser and the Parts List dialog displays a filter symbol when one is applied.

Standards Enhancement
Many 2D weld symbols in drawings were updated as per ISO/BSI/DIN/GB standards. The newly introduced 3D weld symbols use ISO, DIN and ANSI standards.

GENERAL

Inventor Studio Rendering Output Enhancement
Render Size Limit Removed : The limitation has been removed and Inventor Studio will render images up to 16K x 16K resolution, depending on what your graphics card supports.

Guided Tutorial Enhancement

iLogic Enhancement
New functions added to iLogic allow Inventor to check out, get files, search Vault, and much more as part of your automations. Vault code snippets added to the editor make it easy to quickly get started.

INTEROPERABILITY

Fusion Interoperability Enhancement
Access to Manual Inspection added to Fusion tools : From within Inventor you can send a part (.ipt) file to Fusion and create manual inspection tasks.
